#25 The Seven Ravens
Artist comments: When I read a story with the intention of illustrating it, usually an image will present itself to me and that’s where I begin the illustration process.
In the case of the Seven Ravens, three things stood out to me. First, the anxiety the sister began to feel when she learned she was the cause of the brothers absence. The second was her long journey–which took her away from the familiar and into the magical. And the third thing would be the image of the seven ravens.
Inspired by old storybook illustrations that often use panels and borders and rich jewel tones, I attempted to capture the main points of the story, as well as the mood of the tale to draw the reader deeper into their own imagination.
